Object information is catalogued internally using The Museum System (TMS)TM, an application developed and distributed by Gallery SystemsTM. Gallery Systems is a New York based vendor of collection information management software. The site was built using the Spring Framework and relies on Java for its underlying architecture. Information is deployed to the web through a JBoss web server. Our images are fed to this site from the Digital Repository Service (DRS) of the Harvard University Library. The DRS is a ground-breaking storage system, which came about through the University's Library Digital Initiative. Programming and technical implementation of the Collections Online site were accomplished by Jon Drew, Valdeva Crema, and Ziad Alsukairy of the Harvard University Art Museums' Digital Information & Technology Department. The Collections Online user interface was designed by Hecht Design, of Arlington, Massachusetts. |
