Extra Ordinary Every Day: The Bauhaus at the Busch-Reisinger

Extended until December 31, 2008
At The Busch-Reisinger Museum (more about the Busch-Reisinger Museum)

This popular Web exhibition about the Bauhaus, Germany's famous art and design school in the interwar years, has been extended for three years. The site has been widely recognized as a valuable resource, appearing, for example, on the Metropolitan Museum of Art's authoritative list of key Web resources in art and design history. Intriguingly divided into themes of lamp, chair, house, stage, and auto, the site presents both a focused engagement with exceptional individual works and a general introduction to the school's ambition to revolutionize everyday life. A highlight is the streaming video of László Moholy-Nagy's kinetic sculpture Light Prop for an Electric Stage, in motion in the Museum's gallery and as captured by the artist's own 1930 black-and-white film.

Conceived and written by Kimberly L. Mims, 2000-2002 Werner and Maren Otto Curatorial Intern in the Busch-Reisinger Museum. The site and its three-year extension have been made possible by the Busch-Reisinger Museum's Ernst Teves Fund.
