Harvard’s collection of American paintings and sculpture is among the most distinguished yet least known in the United States. This installation includes such icons as Robert Feke’s Susannah Speakman Inman and Albert Bierstadt’s Rocky Mountains, “Lander’s Peak,” as well as recent additions to the collection by important American artists including Sarah Miriam Peale, Sanford Robinson Gifford, and Willem de Kooning.
