Arthur M. Sackler Museum (More about the Arthur M. Sackler Museum)

Ranging from ancient Sumer to the end of the Byzantine Empire, the artifacts on display include stone and bronze sculpture, jewelry, and tools. Despite their diverse origins, all the objects share a common theme of human and animal forms.

The gift of Nelson Goodman, noted philosopher and Harvard University professor emeritus, this collection enriches the depth and breadth of the Art Museums holdings in ancient art. Organized by Luann Wilkins Abrahams, 1996-1997 intern, Department of Ancient and Byzantine Art and Numismatics. Opened 1997.
