| Founded in 1903, Harvard's Busch-Reisinger Museum is the only museum in America devoted to promoting the appreciation and understanding of the arts of Central and Northern Europe of all periods, with a special emphasis on the German-speaking countries. It has brought to a wider public artists and art movements that have had a major impact on the American scene, notably German expressionism and the Bauhaus. It has also served as a major research and teaching center.
