This renowned collection of Post-Impressionist and Impressionist art bequeathed in 1950 to the Fogg Art Museum by Maurice Wertheim includes sculptures and drawings, as well as wonderful paintings by van Gogh, Manet, Renoir, Cézanne, Monet, Picasso, and Gauguin. The volume is beautifully illustrated with color plates and comparison pictures, reflecting the careful research that went into its preparation.

It contains a provenance and bibliography for each work; appendices giving the chronology of Mr. Wertheim's acquisitions; the collection's exhibition history; technical information on the materials and techniques used and the condition of the works; and a general bibliography and index. The catalogue is both an aid to scholars and a source of enjoyment for the general reader.
