Compiled in honor of Marjorie B.
Cohn, the Carl A. Weyerhaeuser Curator of Prints at the Fogg Art
Museum, this book gathers 48 essays by art historians, curators,
and conservators writing about European and American prints, drawings,
photographs, paintings, or books from the Renaissance to the 20th
century. Most of the essays are by Harvard-trained scholars and
deal with one work of art or a group of related artworks, or a
single issue in an artists oeuvre or, say, the history of
printing. The emphasis is on new discoveries or overlooked themes,
and the essays are presented to honor a professional known for
her wide interests and discerning connoisseurship.
