The mission of the Archaeological Exploration of Sardis is to explore, record, and interpret the topography and material culture of the ancient city of Sardis, to ensure the preservation of its antiquities and make them intelligible through conservation and restoration, to teach and train in the disciplines associated with archaeological fieldwork, to maintain Expedition archives for research, and to publish and present the results of fieldwork and research.
