This Web site provides a searchable database that makes available images and text information relating to more than 6000 Progressive Era photographs and graphical illustrations that survive from the collection of the Social Museum of Harvard University.

Established in 1903 as the cornerstone of the University's new Department of Social Ethics, the Social Museum served as an academic and public resource to encourage the comparative study of social conditions and institutions in the United States and abroad during the first three decades of the twentieth century.
